Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, State Choir "Latvia", Riga, Latvia, December 30th: Puccini - Messa di Gloria, Nino Rota - La strada (first latvian performance).

Since December Associate Conductor of Giuseppe Raffa's "Operama", conducting the productions of Aida during May 1998 in the Hartwaal Arena - Helsinki, during December 1997 in the Hallenstadion Zuerich as well as a part of the production during April 1998 in Earl's Court - London, and taking part in several others (Lisbon, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Pretoria) with the singers Michele Crider, Wilhelmenia Fernandez, Monica Pick-Hieronimi, Ludmila Semtschuk, Dennis O'Neill, Luigi Roni, Gleb Nikolsky;

first german performance of the 3rd Symphony of Nino Rota, Wuerttembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, October; performance of the Folk Songs of Luciano Berio with the folksinger Rosie Wiederkehr;

first french performance of Franz Schubert's 1st Symphony and of the piece Tabula Rasa by Arvo Paert, Orchestre Regionale de Cannes Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur, Cannes, March.

Italian tour under Patronage of the UNESCO Director-General Federico Mayor as a prestigious cultural event, July (project about the performance of "cultured" music with non-classic-educated voices, featuring Angelo Branduardi): Lieder with orchestra from R. Strauss' Vier letzte Lieder, from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn and from Schoenberg and Ravel;
